What We Do

LibLynx provides data services to the scholarly publishing and related industries. Our “digital plumbing” empowers organisations to manage the identity and access of their users while performing analytics on usage of their products and services.

Our clients are diverse – ranging from complex global organisations through to small startups. Every implementation brings a unique blend of needs, systems, and processes. And all of them help advance and disseminate human knowledge.

As a niche player in a large industry, our success comes from acting at the leading edge and applying complex domain knowledge in an emerging space; we’re often the first to launch new services and innovations.

Our culture is innovative, collaborative, and empowering, pooling our skills and experience in a small yet powerful team. We value roles that are challenging and satisfying, to be empowered, and meet a need to work on meaningful projects that make a difference to the world.

What You’ll Do

You’re an experienced software engineer who thinks “beyond the code”, recognising the continuum between bespoke engineering and self-serve products, and how this can scale up a B2B company.

You want to continue growing professionally, enjoy learning and acting autonomously, and prefer working on long-lived products over short-term projects.

You’ll be critical in maturing our domain-specific platform and its features, benefiting the product as a whole. For example:

  • designing and building easy-to-use data uploading systems, so our clients can confidently upload and configure complex data
  • designing and building troubleshooting tools, so client success staff can solve problems without needing developer intervention
  • improving the B2B onboarding experience for our clients and their technical and administrative staff
  • helping people solve (and prevent) thorny problems; both with internal tools, and occasionally directly with client staff
  • spotting pain points, sources of friction and papercuts in our platform; suggesting and making simplifications and improvements

You’ll join our lean, fully-remote collaborative team, supported by our Engineering Manager, and work day-to-day with our CTO, engineering team (including George!), client success team, and others.

You MUST have:

  • demonstrated experience over a number of years in software engineering, solving problems like the above
  • recent experience in Symfony and PHP

It’s nice if you’re familiar with:

  • web interface and database-driven API development, particularly for B2B products
  • dynamic and rich front-end experiences
  • agile software development
  • DevOps tools and practices – we use DigitalOcean, GitLab, and Docker
  • working with client technical and administrative staff

And we’ll love it if you’re familiar with, or interested to learn:

  • scholarly publishing
  • SAML authentication technologies
  • data processing and COUNTER reporting
