Publishers and librarians interact with usage data every day, to assess the value and impact of scholarly communications. But, are today’s analytics tools fit for purpose? Most data reports come in tabular formats, which do not facilitate an engaging analytical experience. And most stakeholders who need to identify patterns within their data are non-technical users without training in statistical analysis.

LibLynx will be joining a panel at the 2025 Charleston Library Conference to discuss what we know about how librarians and publishers, without data science expertise, experience data via spreadsheets and graphical visualizations. Attendees will learn more about the needs of scholarly communications stakeholders in their analysis of bibliometrics, usage logs, circulation reports, and other datasets.

Along with our own Lettie Conrad, Product Experience Architect, Karie Kirkpatrick from the American Society for Microbiology and William Peaden from Coventry University Library, will bring valuable perspectives not usually included in professional conferences: the design and use of analytics tools from a library, publisher, and service provider perspective.
